Features

Being the prequel to DooM you play as either the leader of the demon horde possessing the UAC marines, or as a UAC marine fighting alongside other marines while the invasion is happening. With new "friendly" AI and DECORATE script features of zdoom (which this is currently being developed for), this is now possible.

Main Features:

B4DooM is essentially a gameplay mod, which works with most other level wads and the original Doom/Doom2/Plutonia/TNT iwads etc.

2 versions: You can play as a powerful sorcerer, banished 1000 years ago into hell but accidentally released through UAC's interdimensional teleportation technology and lead the invading demon horde on Mars, or, alongside the marines while the invasion is actually happening.
Unholy god Version :
  • Marines replace the zombie soldiers/ monsters in original DooM, and you possess the marines into the zombies and bring the monsters, who then go on to attack the other marines - making it all out war!
  • The souls of the possessed are used for weapons, powerups, health etc. only - no existing items in the original game can be picked up
  • You can fly and move faster - but also build up great strength and powerful weapons as you possess the marines
Marines Version
  • Fight alongside other marines as the monsters invade
  • Monsters respawn to their original spawn spots after a while as the UAC slipgate malfunctions and the dimensions are interlinked - the action doesn't stop and your main goal is to fight and try to survive.
  • Being deployed into the action you start with more than just a pistol... you have a semi automatic, a backpack, assorted ammo, full armour and can collect the backpacks from other fallen marines for an assortment of goodies including health bonuses.
  • Dead marines are possessed into zombies and attack other marines.
  • Over time each level gets more difficult as the marines are possessed and the monsters keep coming

Intended Features or Fixes:

  • Movie style intro/ cut scenes
  • Ability to spawn minions (monsters that attack marines) instead of what exists in the level, perhaps achieved with new weapons or items
  • Marines must also aim to attack monsters without being attacked first or only targeting the player
  • Marines must not engage in in-fighting (team flag in new zdoom?)
  • Bullet puff needs to be different for the player and the marines with different effects on the enemy and also walls and floors
  • Lost Soul skull can be "picked up" as an item to be used as a random weapon, health or other.
Completed:
  • New marine sprites carrying different weapons ✓
  • A "possession" dying sequence that only the player or other monsters (such as the arch vile) can do ✓
  • Possession sequence must not replace dying sequences so that other marines cannot possess  each other with friendly fire ✓
  • Hi-res sprites for plasma ball and magic effects etc ✓
  • Weapons, health and ammo are randomly taken from the possessed marines souls only ✓
  • Extra useage of spawned gibs and debris ✓
